Dolores

Dena and I were introduced to Dolores in the early BETA space days of Groundwork!, and we were immediately impressed by her high energy and confidence. We agreed to support her in organizing the 2015 TEDxNewBedford conference, and the rest is history!

Dolores has been a strong supporter of Groundwork! since that first collaboration. She has coached us to help refine our sales and marketing goals, and she joined us as a member in March of 2016.

My favorite thing about Dolores? She is a porteña, meaning that she comes from Buenos Aires, Argentina, one of my favorite cities in the whole world and my home for three years. And this means that we get to share mate when she comes to work.

What’s your profession?

I’m a Strategist, Business & Speaker Coach. I’m also the organizer for TEDxNewBedford. I have my own business where I help my clients become leaders in their field, clarify their message, their strategy and business model. My clients become speakers, authors and thought leaders, elevating themselves from doing the work to leading the conversation.

Describe a typical work day for you.

I have four children ages 10 to 16 so my mornings come early and can include packing lunch boxes or getting them to sailing school in the summer (they actually get themselves there by bikes). I work typically from 9AM to 3-4PM at my home office and once or twice a week I go into Groundwork! for either peace and quiet or a client meeting. I work with clients around the world in both English and Spanish so a lot of my work happens on the phone or video conferencing.

What’s the biggest challenge you face at your job?

I think my biggest challenge right now is time management and prioritizing my tasks.

Do you have a morning routine?

I try to, it’s not always strict. I typically wake up around 7AM and 3 times a week I go for a run/walk. I would love to say that I meditate, do yoga, or write in my journal, but these things have not happened consistently for me– I’ve not made time for them. ;-)

What are your favorite productivity tips or hacks?

Mmmm…. Online calendars. Having my clients book my time and everything being organized in my google calendar, my life is run by it. Also, all automated software platforms that I use for communicating, billing, etc.

What do you listen to during the day?

If I listen to music it is typically classical music (while working) otherwise is dance/pop.

How do you benefit from using a coworking space?

I love the camaraderie, the space is beautiful and I feel proud to meet with my clients there.

What’s in your digital toolbox?

Online calendars, Google Docs, Paypal, Simplero

What is the most surprising or unusual aspect of your life?

That I love philosophy, and maybe one day I’ll go back to get a graduate degree in philosophy. I’m also an amazing tap dancer ;-)

What inspires you?

IDEAS. I have a passion for ideas – the process of identifying, clarifying and then manifesting (making happen) ideas that impact the world in a positive way.
