Reggae in the Tavern
FRIDAY, MARCH 9 – DJ Ranking Z got us all grooving all summer long as DJ during four Reggae on West Beach happenings in New Bedford. He heads indoors to the Pour Farm Tavern (780 Purchase Street, NB) tonight beginning from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. to do the same.
SATURDAY, MARCH 10 – SoCo Cycle rolls into New Bedford today with a grand opening beginning at 1:00 p.m. Located at 468 North Street, NB, SoCo Cycle is an indoor cycling facility boasting a state-of-the-art lighting system, Schwinn bikes and more. Welcome to New Bedford on behalf of all Groundwork! members and friends! Classes begin Sunday, March 11. SATURDAY, MARCH 10 – Dorothy comes to the new Oz when the classic film, “The Wizard of Oz” screens for free this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at New Bedford’s Zeiterion Theatre. It’s part of Mayor Mitchell’s Classic Film Series; maybe he does have a heart after all! :-) No RSVP or tickets required – but you may want to bang your ruby slippers together to ensure yourself a seat.
SATURDAY, MARCH 10 – She may be pushing 60, but Madonna is still the queen of pop to many. Tonight, New Bedford’s only LGBTQ nighclub, LePlace bows down before royalty with Maddonarama – a Madge-inspired drag show featuring Imperial Crown Prince Douglas J. Sylvia and Empress XXVGingah Rale. A $5 cover gets you in the door at 8:00 p.m. Make like a virgin ‘til 11. LePlace is located at 20 Kenyon Street, NB.
Roots of Creation
SUNDAY, MARCH 11 – If you began your weekend with reggae, why not go out the way you came in – just across the street. Greasy Luck Brewpub hosts Roots of Creation Live in the Vault tonight at 9:00 p.m. Roots of Creation consists of Grateful Dub, a reggae rock tribute to Jerry Garcia & The Grateful Dead. “Combining their longtime love for reggae-dub style music and the Grateful Dead, RoC reworked some of the worlds favorite Dead tunes into a new studio album,” the event page states. Most Dangerous Men Alive open at 7:30. Tickets are $15 here or $20 at the door.
